I've just come back from a two and a half hour ride on my crosser with my eight month old son in the Chariot trailer. I get good boy points from the gf, my son gets to sleep and I get some strength training in!

Have a happy new year! I might go down the road a bit later and watch the fireworks of a different kind at the traditional fight between the local punks and the police! ๐Ÿ˜

Heading out over the Pentland hills tonight - leaving at about 10pm and will be perfectly located to watch the fireworks go off over Edinburgh at midnight. Just me, my fiancee and a small bottle of champagne (oh, and two very muddy bikes...) 8)

If its last ride that finishes in 2011 - that was yesterday. A 40+ miler in the Pentlands as training for next weeks puffer.

Loop around Bath, first Lansdown and back via Charmy Down. Muddy like hell. All my clothes are now dripping on the kitchen floor. Must warn the cat.

14 of us from the local mtb club went out on the 28th and did a 50km ride in the Brecon beacons , very very muddy , pub stop halfway round for food and drink and bring our fingers and toes back to life in front of a log fire.

Down to Sandbanks ferry and back on the Langster. Flask of coffee on a deserted Boscombe pier.

Yes, I should have gone off road but I didn't want to get my new bargain Dare2Be jacket muddy. ๐Ÿ˜ณ

Lucky people! My last ride of 2011 was in mid-November. Not likely to be out for another month or so either. Bad year for biking for me, so roll on 2012!

and I'm not going back to work this year ever again, ever. Stuff 'em.

Managed a pootle on Salisbury Plain and the last couple of miles saw some drizzly rain.

So nice to be out even though it wasn't 'proper' mountain biking. I did ride my singlespeed though. 8)

Only saw one other mtb'er too.

My last ride of the year will be a short one with Mrs BigJohn into Stafford (to say HNY to BigJohn Jr who's working behind the bar at the Lord Nelson)then over to the Railway Inn for the evening's entertainment featuring an all-vinyl disco (they don't own a mic - bliss).

My first ride of 2012 will be a drunken wobble home.

Followed by a morning ride over Cannock Chase at 9:30 with my usual riding buddies.

I popped down to Tonbridge from Southborough via the Weald Way to get some cotton wool balls for my beautiful new daughter's chapped buttocks.

Well worth it. She's very very lovely.

MBO on Cannock Chase today. Won the prize for muddiest finisher, and also for overall winner (the two are probably connected) - my first prizes this year IIRC. Feeling very smug.

Went up on the Ridgeway. Headwind and persistent drizzle all the way there, but had good fun as usual once I made it. Also took some photos (not many though as I'd forgotten to replace the near empty batteries in the camera d'oh).

Somehow got it into my head that the Hub at Glentress was having it's last weekend today (maybe I dreamt it). Drove up from Newcastle at 7 am with 2 semi-reluctant mountain bikers, and me with my now fixed again hand (after a 4 month lay off after being hit by a car) to say goodbye and end the year on a bit of a high.

Turns out none of us was that reluctant at all: great day, reasonable weather for December, red and blue loops at pace. Turns out new cafe has great food and excellent facilities. And getting to have a warm shower before drive home was awesome. Sorry to see the Hub boarded up but that's life... Everything changes.

There is however, no way that I am going to last until midnight.

Ended the year nicely with a ride up snowdon this morning. A week of bad food has certainly taken its toll but was a brilliant descent. Can't wait to go back again:)

A few hours out this morning with some mates I don't get to ride with that often, plenty of laughs and MTFU moments, resulting in a couple of epic fails, one of which required stitches, good times, Happy New Year all!

A good deal of it on the road.

Cruelly cut short when the gear cable to my Alfine hub popped out on a short, steep technical climb and wouldn't go back in. Fit and forget my hole.

Had to spin most of the way home on Tarmac at an insane cadence.

Great ride up until that point though - reminded me of my formative years mountain biking on the outskirts of Glasgow, what with all the gloop and the mist.
