Sigh, Wiggle. M9000 11-40 cassette ordered. Turns up, M9001

Box says it's specific to 3x11.

Looking around it's hard to tell what the difference is though other than it's optimised for 3x11 apparently, but is it an issue using it 1x11?

Some sites list the part number as M9000/9001 with no option to pick.

So guessing it's all okay. Or will it spectacularly explode and I will die? 😀

It's still got 11-40 range? Struggling to think about how that's optimised unless different gaps. I reckon it'd be fine....

M9001 has a few modified teeth in the 2nd and 3rd gear (the two next to biggest sprocket).

It will work fine for 1x11, but a 9000 won’t work so well with a triple.

See CS-9000 and here for CS-9001

I wonder if the different sprockets help with that back pedal annoyance ?

That back pedal annoyance isn't a real thing. I have three bikes with these and it's just not an issue. I do run Shimano chains though and have noticed most of the complainers use third party ones.
