[#6774532]

thinking of up grading to 11 speed after my 3x9 kit has finally died after a trip to Afan on the weekend.....

I have got XTR M970 cranks can I put an XTR9000 11 speed ring on those cranks???? surley.... if not how do I get around this as I really do not want to replace the whole crankset?

direct mount rear mech will that fit on a cotic soda frame

how do ispec shifters differ from bar mountand how do they fit to your bars

any help on those little query's would be grand cheers all

You should be able to stick a single ring on as long as you don't want smaller than 32t from cog. I could be wrong though.

No the new xtr ring won't fit as will be different BCD to your old cranks. As they will be 104bcd, you can use a raceface or similar narrow wide ring.

Ispec just means shifters can mount to brakes etc so still clamp to bars.

Bolt circle diameter, just means the four holes on the chainring will line up with the 4 on your cranks.

Pretty much all (including yours) shimano cranks are 104mm BCD, the new xtr cranks are 96mm so not interchangeable.

The 11spd XTR rear mechs come with the bit for non-direct mount frames… well mine did, so don't worry about that.

Agree with the others, grab a narrow/wide ring and off your go… easy.

(I got a Superstar one cheap, but the Hope are finished far better)

You can just get a 30t on an xtr970 chainset. Needs careful alignment though!
