Hi all just wondering if someone can give me any suggestions best way for me to go 2x10 for the gears i like.
I'm thinking of going 2x10 with my M770 44-32-22, main reason being I never ever use my 22 only 32 and 44 on road or fire track. Its pretty flat round here ๐ but i can climb most things in my 32 with the 11-36 on the back.
So I was wondering if there is a way I can drop the granny and change spacers on BB to get better chainline on cranks or is this really not a good idea as would change pedal position to much. I have a superlight with 68mm bb and 2 x 2.5mm spacers on crankside and 1 x2.5mm spacer on non drive side i think.
Or what is the largest i can go on the granny and middle plus a bash, can I get to 28-40 or 30-42.
FD always seems to rub more often than not with triple at front and was also thinking with just double I could adjust much better to avoid ever getting and chain rub.
Plus I know most doubles straight out the box measure 50mm chainline to centre of gap between rings where as triple would measure 50mm to inside of middle. So can I get my converted XT 2x10 to measure 50mm to centre of two from chain rings.
Sorry so many questions
Problem is that the BB cups are different lengths on left & right side, so you'll reduce the thread depth on the left side which may be a concern, as well as your pedals not being central as you suggest. If you are thinking of changing the chainring sizes you may be just as well off by selling the m770 chainset & buying one of the new m785 double race chainsets instead which will be better with it being 10 speed too?
Thanks yes thats what I was thinking but not sure if i will like the 28.40 or 26.38, think i will end up doing loads more front shifting than i do at the moment.
