Six weeks in fact - bike had been washed and dried and in integral garage, and pedals not touched in that time. Was quite sticky this morn, but once it started moving after a wee push it was fine. Does this mean its on its way out ?

Yeah, I tend only to wash it if its still wet mud ! If its dry it gets brushed off 🙂

there'll be a bit of clag/rust in there but if it spins smoothly you're probably fine - 'til it fails catastrophically miles from home 😀
(If you can be arsed, it is possible to regrease them)
