Why are they all shiney with bright colours with lots of writing? The only thing I've seen that I've liked are these:

Shimano do black (XC9, XC7 or XC51N) and Giro and Sidi, in fact you aren't trying very hard if you can't find black.

What size are you? Got some unused size 44 Spesh ones that are plain black.
They don't have to be black just not multi coloured or featuring massive logos.
For instance these look like the something that was designed for a wendyballer
