I love my Orange 5 for the Enduros but am looking for a hardtail weapon for out and out xc racing 100m forked. What's available British built,
-Orange P7 more suited to longer forks and heavy,
-Pace don't seem to do anything like the RC200 of old.
Does Whyte class as British?
Maybe a Ti 19?

Thoughts please.

Orange P7 no more and no less British than the Whyte - UK designed but not (AFAIK) manufactured. What about Kinesis, Cotic Soda?

I don't think the P7 is british built anyway, is it not far eastern?

If you're willing to settle for british designed, then an On One Scandal maybe? I never really got on with mine as a trail bike but they're light and handle lovely with a shorter fork in.

Very little is actually built in the UK unless you go custom - Chas Roberts builds some very nice lightweight XC-race steel hardtails.
For UK designed, I'd go with a Cotic Soda (Ti) or Soul (853).

They are lovely but not sure I could justify the extra £1400 for the Team over the next one down! Only saving 2 lb! I do like th Ti one though.
