Ive got a spare hour tonight and im thinking about stripping my few months old bike and repacking the bearings with waterproof grease. Should i just leave it alone as its running great atm or go with the preventative maintenance?

If you have a spare hour and are able to do it why not? Fettling is great 😀

Pop down and do mine if you like, it could definitely do with it!

Personally I wouldn't as the chances of damaging the seals enough to let water in is high - thus shortening the life of the bearings. If you are going to do it I would remove the bearings so you can take the inner side seal off.

thats my fear. i dont want to remove the bearings as its a carbon frame so it would just be the outer seals. Ill get the LBS to do a full bearing hange next year to assess how they are fairing.

but this could prevent failure (through binding) im thinking so worthwhile. but then the bike doesnt creak and im worried it will.

Depends how confident you are at getting the seals on and off?
I would just leave them but have a new/spare set of bearings already packed and waiting for later in the year.

Use your spare hour to ride the bike, I am sure you'll feel loads better afterwards.
