[Closed] WTB Nano TCS Light Fast Rolling CX tyre - FAULTY BATCH???

Any one else had probs with these tyres? Just wasted an evening trying to set four, (yes FOUR), of these up tubeless.
ALL of them had a pinprick hole in the sidewall.....
Came from Europe - Bicyclehero - I'll be contacting them in the morning!

Reviews of wtb cx tyres on crc reflect your experience. I just set up 2 mud wrestlers, straight up and stayed up with no leakages

I guess it would, singlespeedstu, but a leaky/faulty tyre is not what I paid £35 each for... Might also be a weak point in the casing, leading to catastrophic failure miles from anywhere....

TCS light fast all do that. Not just the CX tyres. We set them up outside the workshop as they spray sealant everywhere!

There's often tiny holes in tubeless tyres, if you don't want to use sealant I'd be amazed if any stay up for more than a few hours. Over time lots of other holes will appear anyway and often the sidewalls degrade and leak more.

Agreed, most tyres will have some tiny holes/leaks, but not to the point where you can hear the air coming out.
No, I wasn't planning on using them 'dry'.
All the holes were all in the same place on the casing...
Is that within normal range of acceptable??

TCS isn't [i]supposed[/i] to be airtight. Little pinholes in tubeless tyres are completely normal.

Yes. I think full UST tyres like Maxxis LUST might not have any holes but weigh as much as a small planet.

Before you go losing your rag with anyone in the morning... Doesn't "TCS" stand for Tubeless Compatible with Sealant?

Got 2 of these coming for my new CX bike, can't wait to give them a try... Will definitely be running Stans sealant inside mine!

Mboy, they look like a really handy tyre - got them for the dirty Reiver - fast but comfy hopefully.
Interesting that peeps feel it's Ok - I'll speak to the shop in am and see what they think. I was just suspicious of a faulty batch as the holes were all in almost the same position

Every tyre I've had tubeless does this, a couple of revolutions of the wheel with sealant in and you're sorted. The tyres aren't supposed to be airtight without sealant. For that you need full on UST tyres... Which weigh the same as a small planet.

Ace tyres, but a good shake and gyro with stans does the job.

Had the same in 26" bought for last summer, took quite a while to seal with Stans. And then easily punctured despite sealant. A bit slidy on hard surfaces ie tarmac/roads/etc.

Update for anyone interested.
Got some more of these tyres locally and tried them - went up tubeless and stayed up overnight, no sealant.
No air pissing out of holes in sidewalls. The new ones felt totally different to the first lot.
So, I guess a dodgy batch after all.
If you get some leaky ones - send them back.

But when you've had four dodgy ones, you tend to want to check that you're not going to be sending them back again.

I had these and had the same issue, but to be honest I was pumping them up too hard to get them to seat.

I think the pressure i was putting into them was stretching the side wall too much, if that is even possible. Trying sealing them at a lower pressure. That worked for me and that have been absolutely amazing in my last two CX races.

What was the different between the new and old tyres?

I've ordered a couple from Planet X and it would be nice to know whether I've got the newer ones or not.

I set up a WTB Crosswolf last week. Bought it yonks ago but never got round to fitting it - it took a lot of sealant, and a ride, to properly seal it.
