Last day of my job on Thursday so I intended to get up early for a ride on Friday to celebrate IMG_1847.jpegIMG_1849.jpegIMG_1850.jpeg  It was raining so I couldn’t be arsed and went in the afternoon instead. Hotter and more traffic but still tranquil off road. Met some pineapples.

love your posts @reeksy.

I took today off. Lovely cold sunny winters day. Took my brand new e-bike to a trail centre. Didn’t even get all the way up the climb before the freehub died! Less than 25km on the bike. Im soooooo bummed! Had to freewheel back to the car and drive back to the shop. So im ebike-less. (This was my second e-bike, since my main e-bike is also in the shop waiting for a warranty decision for a failed motor).

Saturday morning I finally got Reeksy1 to sample a local delicacy. No berms. No jumps. Some hike a bike. Very hard climbs. Maximum jank. Turned out he enjoyed it… and the bacon and egg rewards.

Next ride should be two states south of home. IMG_1874.jpeg

Little local spin on the Deliveroo bike.

Trying to get out earlier to take advantage of the freeze but nah, still muddy as.

After last week's wreck at Wharny I went for a chill lap around Ladybower. Nothing serious but nice to be out.

was it an Orbea by any chance?

@bullandbladder: no, a Mondraker. Apparently the freehub “unwound” itself. But it’s all back together and working fine today.

After yesterdays aborted outing, I went back to the same trail centre in rostrevor. Rode the wonderful black trail, but also sampled some of the off-piste trails, which were totally outstanding. Great day on the bike. Absolutely knackered now!

Haven't been out for a couple of weeks due to a cold. Fought off the hangover after seeing Jimmy Carr last night and dragged myself out this afternoon. Was grand out, if very muddy. Local Stanton and Bakewell loop with added grumpy old man above Bakewell golf course. Apparently I'm a very despicable man 😂

@jimmy748

Not seen you post any pics for a while.

Nice to see you posting again.

I'm still struggling with a really annoying injury so just went out for a back lanes spin.

30KM but no one needs to see pictures of surfaced roads.

Definitely well into hardtail/slop season now. Really enjoyed some very modern carbon for past couple of years but I did miss a bit of good old 853. Dead chuffed with this new build, it's basically been a frame swap so only giving away about a kilo to my Carbon race bike. It feels lovely and comfy and springy so far.

A clean one and some later on when it was on its maiden ride!

Friday. Was raining when I left work but dry at home 10 miles away so sadness turned to gladness and I got out for a quick 'gravel' spin around the local fire roads with tiny bits of blue skills loops thrown in. Nice little head clearer.

Saturday. Weather looked great and Mrs Noise was off having her hair done 60 miles away so Saturday spin rather than Sunday this weekend. Bumped into a rider on his first time at the local so did some impromptu guiding as my good deed for the day.

Don't finish for the Winter break until next Friday (that is a half day though so maybe a vaguely daylight post-work ride for next week's thread!).

Been really hot here the last week so headed to Te Miro this morning.  Nice and cool under the trees and the normally lethal if wet bits were riding brilliantly today 20251214_101939.jpg20251214_105152.jpg

I've been a bit limited for riding over the past week - usually I get a couple of commutes in but stuff got in the way. Also had the hangover from hell after works Xmas drinks on Tuesday which definitely didn't help!

Anyway got out on the hardtail set up in mud plugging singlespeed mode, expecting the local trails to be pretty wet but actually on the whole they were much better than expected. Yeah some bad muddy holes, but only a couple of bits were actually unrideable which is amazing, really.

Also I didn't embarrass myself on the singlespeed which I was really pleased about. I used to ride singlespeed locally all the time. maybe 10-12 years ago was the peak, when the kids were small.

I made it up all the same tricky climbs that were a real test back in the day - no problem - that's a result👍

I'm on a slightly easier gear but then again I'm on equivalently slightly shorter cranks. Probably balances out 🤷‍♂️. I think all the gym work I've done over the past few years (squats and deadlfts) has helped a lot there for sure. felt good today and I didn't expect to.

IMG_20251214_104930085_HDR~2.jpgIMG_20251214_105334285_HDR.jpg Some lovely pics and some nice hardtails this weekend! Bit of a clarty outing today, but the rain wind mud and gloom didn't spoil the morning. A comedy OTB and an barely controlled descent of barely legal to the blue pig brightened up the day

Golden hour at Woburn today. Did 2 laps of the red and once round the blue. Absolutely perfect trail conditions, nice and grippy with only a couple of small boggy bits. Bike leant against a holly bush for extra festivity.

Couple of hours with the wife at Wharny this morning. Was riding pretty well considering all the rain recently.

Forecast for today was heavy rain and strong winds so I just went out on the gravel bike.  The weather never materialised but it was good to get some miles in the legs. PXL_20251214_131723746.jpgPXL_20251214_130005083.jpg

Not been riding much lately. Nearly didn't get out the house again as was enjoying a rare moment of peace with the kids not being here, but got out for a ten mile local doorstep ride. Mostly tame cross country on a loop that included the skatepark twice, a church yard, edge of an industrial estate, a tiny "cross country" track through the grass at the back of some motel, and mounds next to a farm track!

Good photos as ever. @welshfarmer - I'm sure I recognise that climb but can't place it. Where exactly are you there?

Anyway who's that handsome chap with the slightly too long trousers?  (@davidB photo). Endura sizing strikes again. Good to get out even feeling a bit ropey. Trails pretty good considering all the rain ,until the last one when having nearly crashed once (pinged out of the Rut Of Increasing Terror after a gap jump), pulled myself together only to nearly crash again 2 minutes later (Bomb-hole Of Dubious Entry).

Couldn't even go to the pub and bore my riding buds with tales of extreme bike handling skills, as had appointment with a broken roof tile.

WhatsApp Image 2025-12-14 at 17.17.15.jpeg

Yesterday finally got the Britango back on the road with a set of new XT brakes, having snaffled the last set for my 5010. It's so long since I've ridden this bike it was covered in actual dust. Looking at those tyres, not sure I'll be riding it much until it dries up a bit*

*a lot.

Cheers @singlespeedstu been riding as much, just not posting, mainly due to the awful image uploader, thought I’d give it another try, but it now seems subscriptions “are not available to purchase” @mark ?

Anyhow, some from today.
