Wife wants a beach holiday, has found an AirBNB near Newquay for next week, I am not a beach person and one of the kids is also not keen. However I see some areas on trailforks nearby,Cardinham woods, Lanhydrock woods, GBH, Woodys Bike Park, and a load more stuff down past Redruth.
Are any of these places decent and worth a morning or afternoons foray from Newquay?

This agrees with me. Take is going away from something, bringing is going towards. I didn't mention leaving Crawley, I'd take my bike from Crawley and bring it to Cornwall.

I rode Cardinham a few years back. It's short. Pleasant enough though.
I would say so, Cardinham and Lanhydrock are with 30 mins.
If you are within short riding distance of Newquay, say 15 minutes there are some nice rocks on the Newquay side of the Gannel estuary for a play in the evening.
OK, I'll be plenty bored so I'll do some exploring.
Grogley is worth a look.

lanhydrock is fun with my 10yr old but not sure I’d go there otherwise.
GBH is awesome. Woody's is awesome. Cardinham is fun. There's even some XC Redruth way, and there's plenty of cheek on Bodmin. Police Valley is awesome, and there's some cheek in Unity Woodsl. No, there's not as much as there is in Devon perhaps, but it's *absolutely* worth taking a bike.
I think Grogley is the GBh area I linked to .I will check that out too.
GBH - Grogley, Bishops, Hustyns. 3 woods all in very close proximity. As above, worth a look. Poldice is you like big jumps etc, old mining landscape is pretty unique. Unity woods is close by to poldice, also worth a look.
There is also old hill bike park and bike park kernow you can add to your list.

There is also an absolutely amazing set of flow trails dropping down into Porthemmet. The views down to the beach are worth it alone but the berms are the icing on the (Saffron) cake 🤌

I enjoyed pedalling around Potthcurno (road - and I now realise irrelevant).
I surveyed over 600k of PROW west of Penzance. There are hardly any Bridleways on the western tip and Cornwall overall is ill served with them. There's excellent cycletracks on the old railway system out Camelford estuary though
