Or would it be slack as a bag of knackers , or lose tyre width. Ta
Reading the set up page of the Salsa website last night they said you could get away with a normal 26" inner tube in a Surly 3.7 tyre so i suspect you will be ok (i was reading about the Mukluk Snowbike). The tube will stretch thinner though so punctures may be more common.
Coolio thanks 😉
The actual article......
Tubes:
Surly offers large volume tubes or you can try cutting weight by stretching your luck (pun intended) by using either a normal-size 26” or 29” tubes. We’ve noticed that a 29’er tube creates less of a ‘divot’ in the tire casing, than a 26” tube. The 29’er tube essentially is expanding inward toward the rim, while the 26” tube is inflating outward toward the tire.
Why dont you fit a 2.5"-2.7" tube ?
Just I have some 2.125 tubes at home and to get bigger means a trip to town . Thanks
You can do it, but sometimes it will just pop inexplicably, usually somewhere near the valve.
Same is true with using normal 700c tubes in 29x2.6 tyres.
Schwalbe make large volume lightweight tubes at least in 29" size (29x2.6 tube which only weighs < 170g or something), they might also do a 26" one?

Oh I'm not bothered about the weight I just want it not to pop or tear just can't be bothered going into Leeds with the two little ones 😉
