I made the mistake of not checking how to change the gear cable on my 2010ish X9 shifters and took the thumb shifter off.
What a nightmare getting it all back together, I won't be doing that again in a hurry 😥

I had to do it recently as it Jammed up with a single broken strand of gear cable that unravelled up into the shifter. Wasn't too bad but I was ultra careful not to disassemble the internal mechanism for that very reason. I did a surgical style operation with the wire cutters to free up the mechanism and clear out the cable. Much easier to change a cable via the proper way!
