is it all ok (as in legit) to ride there again now?

Yes, always has been with a permit. Best riding in the area in this weather, drains well. Sand eats drive trains though.

They closed a couple of cheeky trails that went through an SSSI which is more than reasonable, but still hours worth of top singletrack. We drive up from Oxford most weekends...

We were there last weekend and had no issues... just keep £3 with you just in case you need to buy a permit... otherwise no worries.

lovely thanks, great news. Thought I remembered it being closed briefly.

Where can I get a permit beforehand and (probably the same place) what good local bike shops are there?

As above. Have £3 to hand in case the ranger turns up and you are good to go. I'm there most weekends (and the odd weekday) with a few mates playing on the freeride area so if you see a fat, bald knacker about. Just say hi
