[Closed] Will she die? Paint corrosion on Fox forks content

Was about to fit my old Fox forks to Mrs PixelMix's bike until I noticed that the paint around the bottom of the steerer tube is flaking from corrosion, presumably emanating from the steerer tube. They have been sitting in the garage for a good few months, and presumably had a little salt or oil around the base of the steerer when last put away.

Likely to cause a problem in future, or nothing to worry about. I'm leaning towards the latter. Any chance of Mrs PixelMix landing on her teeth?

ah interesting, I've found the same this winter too on forks and hubs.

I also found a little the same kind of corrosion on my rockshox steerer above the crown race last week, and that bike has hardly been ridden on the road at all.

Ah well, I'll bung them on then, cheers. Plenty of material there so I guess some surface corrosion won't cause an issue.

What could possibly go wrong?
