So servicing the bike today I noticed that the hard thump I heard and felt on Saturday has actually put a huge dent in my rear rim. So unfortunately it's new rim time.

I can't afford a full wheel so the not so great hub will have to stay for now.

For convenience I'm going to take it into Evans and get them to build a new rim onto it. Looking at options it's gonna be a Mavic but I'm a bit confused. Options are:

EX830
EX630
EN827
EN627

The 830 and 827 are £55 and the 630 and 627 are £45 so not a lot in it there.

I'm looking for the stronger rim really so is wider stronger or is the higher 8xx model stronger, only 5g difference between 830 and 630 however the 27mm are about 90g lighter. SO i guess wider = stronger?

I'm confused by it all. Also I run maxxis dhr 2.3 at the mo and in summer it will be an ardent 2.4 is 30mm internal width a bit wide and would the 27 suit better?

Lots of questions I know but any thoughts or experience will be appreciated!

Cheers

Also mavic suggest 32mm rim tape for the 30mm rims, I can't find anywhere that sells 32mm most is 25mm. Any recommendations for the wider tape?

cheers again
