why are some rotors " odd sizes " rather than just in 20mm increments ?
why do hope choose 183mm ?
is there a good reason?
please enlighten me

Hope have used many different sizes over the years - to make you buy more of their products?

140,145,160,165,180,183,185,200,203,205,225... probably more to add to the list.

Different manufacturers use different sizes. Some based on metric sizes some imperial. For example 203mm = 9 inches.

By using different sized rotors it means the roters are not nessicerily directly transferable between brands so if you change manufacturer of brakes you also need new rotor and mounting hardware too. basically meaning more money for them.

203mm = 9 inches.

???

203mm = 8 inches

The annoying thing is a lot of manufacturers call a 160mm rotor a "6 inch" rotor though, when it's clearly a 6.3" rotor... Grrrr!
