Up above Derwent, it was hot but well worth it. Saw loads out on the trails and every one seemed cheerful. Had lunch at the Ladybower Inn on the way round

Looks fun!

Had the best ride in ages yesterday after getting a new front wheel - may sound ponsey but I LOVE this dryness!!

Just went for a short blast over the Surrey Hills today, to check everything's working before the alps next weekend. Fantastic riding today, if a little hot!

Hopefully I'll have some nice pics to post tomorrow, going out in an hour over to the Stretton hills for an all-nighter, dusk till dawn, finishing at Mitchell's fold stone circle around sunrise then back to Bridges for breakfast.

Just under 40 miles around the Surrey Hills for me too, was surprised how quiet it was actually. Was nice when the sun went in! I think the trails would ride better with a bit of rain too, dampen the dust slightly, but I'm not gonna complain!

I had one of those 50/50 rides, went for a random 30 miler, first half was great and rediscovered some great singletrack. Second half saw me getting a bit lost and performing a full body dab in a 6 foot high nettle bed 🙁 Managed to get a bit muddy later on tho, which cheered me immensely 8)

fast, dry and dusty - not something you can usually say about Aston Hill.
did 10 runs of the DH trails, which was a killer on a hot day but well worth it - grins all round 😀 😀 😀

Just got back from a cheeky Friday B&B break. Had a gorgeously dry ride around Brecon, The Gap, Talybont, the mines up on top, down to Pontiscill, and on to Merthyr. The bike only needed the most cursory of a spray down. Sweet!

😥 Indoors all day family duties.

Hoping it hits the 30s Sunday for a long hot hundred on the road.

LOL full body dab..
Great late evening ride last night.. Rode around our local gorse common/pebblebed heath until utterly lost and then found our way out again.. good times.. found lots of fun new stuff to ride..

Kept stumbling across a larger group of MTBers but didn't stop to make conversation cos we were a bit intimidated by 'bigger boys' (see that 'Kevin and Perry' film for the reference)

Dartmoor Lustleigh Cleave area tomorrow on way to in-law duties..

yes, a great ride from Abbey Village (near Bolton) in the scorching sunshine and unmatched levels of dryness on the trails 🙂

Oh, and I'd just like to say "well done" to the trail builders at Healey Nab - excellent work and even the climbs were good :o)

I rode out from Leeds through Otley and up to Stainburn, did a few laps of the red, minced down the black, and played on the pump track for a bit. Got back and sat in hyde park showing off my lycra and tan lines 8)

Not too hot, favourable breeze and drought conditions. A wonderful, non-technical big solo :)))

Cheers

Didn't go out today but was out on Tuesday night doing the Hayfield > Jacobs > Hollins Cross > Rushup > Roych > Hayfield and saw 3 other bikes and 2 other walkers. One day after the solstice and a lovely evening. To quote the Aussie tourism ads "wherethebladdyellareya?".

Just out locally exploring a few bits I'd seen on the map, but not ridden, plus a few old favourites - funny how a regular route looks different if you go round the other way. Flax is out now, couple of wonderful big blue fields of it round here.

Helped out a couple of guys who'd had a tubeless tyre failure by giving them my spare tube [gave me a donation for it, thanks guys].

Adjusted the karmic balance by interrupting two other people's ride, but the way they had been going at it in the long grass I don't think they stopped for long. 😆

Not long in from a couple of hours road loop. Yesterday couple of hours hopping from one local wood to another, and Tuesday Cut Gate out and back from Langsett end. Not bad considering it's been busy with work, family and footy too.

Followed distant riders somewhere new, lost sight of them and discovered the joy of rhodi-bashing singletrack.

A great ride in the Mendips. Starting at Burrington Coombe, taking in downhill, Black down, and then to Charterhouse, hike a bike up the gorge, across the top (I swear the rocks there are getting even pointier), cake stop, Warrens Hill, Black down.
Buzz - did we bump into you at the top of the Christmas tree downhill (malt loaf discussion)?

Had a great ride too in Co Durham not far from the Derwent.

Started at Rowley Station, across to Edmundbyers and up over the moors on the Lead mining trails - looped over the moors to the Parkhead Station (had a much needed bite to eat at the cafe) and back down the Waskerley way to the start.

Great views and weather apart from a pesky strong wind which seemed to be in our faces regardless of which direction we travelled. It's normally really fast back down to Rowley Station (it's pretty much all downhill) but the wind was so strong we had to work pretty hard.

Only one comedy fall when a heather branch caught in the chain during a shift and locked the back wheel. Ended up lying upside down in a heather bush - thank goodness there were no cameras around.

Neninja, that's the wrong way round. Pootle up the waskerly and blast back down across the moor to edmunbyers, the singletrack is superb!!! Only jealous as I'm working all weekend

You're right - it was the first time we'd done that moorland trail and soon realised it would be more fun going the other way - fast and loose.

As you say some excellent singletrack up there. Found another route on Bikely we'll try next time - up to Slaley Forest and then back to Edmundbyers via that same trail.
