Had this Diamond back for 15+ years & recently gave it a new lease of life. Now single speed freewheel & front brake only, great minimalistic fun it is.

Just got one at the moment. My 1994 Raleigh M-Trax 1000. All completely original even brake pads and tyres. I love it cos it was one I always wanted when I was at school.

Oh and I forgot, I rebuilt my '92 Marin Muirwoods into a rigid singlespeed and my wife still has her dark purple sparkle finish Specialized Stumpjumper Ultra also bought in '92. Completely original apart from the brake pads, freewheel and purple ski bar ends.

Dawes Kickback Tandem early 90's and as original except for saddles - taking off crank shorteners in this pic and putting back on original stokers bars - in this case retro sort of crept up - when kids young we just stopped riding it

I've got a 1999 Marin Attack Trail, the bike I will never sell. Had it from new, my first 'proper' MTB and just too emotionally attached to it.
I have a horrible feeling it's on it's last legs, I'm looking for something else for the Megavelanche next year but this frame will be going up on a wall somewhere when that happens.
Some period parts, such as the Junior Ts, some newer bits such as the brakes and dropper post.

One of the nice things about retrobikes is that they can be easy and inexpensive to buy if you're not being snobby. Early to mid-90s mountain bikes come up for sale on craigslist and similar all the time; often for as little as $100. 80s bikes are a little less common, but still are for sale regularly.

I have a 96 kona cinder cone that I bought as a frame brand new at the age of 16. It's had various forks etc on it over the years but at the moment I have modern 80mm fox forks and a disk brake onthe front and a magura rear brake (john tomac ltd edition no less!) Middleburn/xt/xtr kit and mavic wheels.
It's light and great fun and I ride it at least as much as my newish FS bike. I have a set of p2 forks but I doubt I'd cope with a rigid bike these days! Love it too much to sell and it's worthless financially so there is no point!

Of course I have a couple. Sold all but one of my half-dozen or so early Ritcheys. I have my custom built 1983 Ritchey Annapurna, just about the nicest MTB you could buy that year. My 1994 P-21 is now my town bike, with 1.5" slicks. My 1978 Breezer is in a museum.
The bikes I actually ride off road are modern FS 29ers.
My dad has a couple of virtually unused Puch bikes from the early 90s. One is XT and has nice bits fitted. Not sure if I can be bothered to fiddle with old bikes though considering the new ones dont get enough use.

Lots of very tidy well specced bikes out for their yearly run in the holidays. Probably by the original owners who bought something they really didnt need at the time.
