I have a very tired looking Genesis Equlibrium disc that has seen a lot of miles in all weathers. I don't want to replace it as there's nothing I'd change about it so a repaint seems like a good idea. Who would STW recommend? I looked at Enigma but has anyone got an example of their work? Don't want anything flashy, just good quality.

Where are you?  always nice to go local if there's someone good near you.

I sent mine to Dave Yates, as I had a few extra bits I wanted done at the same time.  Very, very happy with the finish.  Single colour, but metallic green with a yellow topcoat. Gert lush.

If you want it powder coating triple s in bingley are highly recommended. They have a postage option if required.

The "bigger" places online all seem expensive but for that you know you'll get a good job.

I've done 2 frames and always used a local powder coater. They understand bikes, I'd seen examples of their work and trusted them to do a good job. £60 for a frame and fork a few weeks ago. Simple 1 coat gloss. Add £30 for each additional coat and special effects like glitter.

I'd be tempted to look into local options for powder coating. Done well it can give a tough aesthetic finish. The guys I use do most of there small jobs on alloy refurbs for cars.

Powder coating places also tend to do side lines in wet applied paint. This can give a better finish if done well. If I really cared I'd talk to some car body shop places. Again, they'll know what they are doing and probably offer a good price.

I had my Cove done by argos under warranty in 2002. Still looks fine now.

If I was keeping a bike a long time that's where I'd send it again

I used Armourtex in London for my Brompton a few weeks back. They can do a single powder coat (like they did for me) or some more complex stuff. Just email them, they are easy to deal with. I dropped mine of at the shop (Shoreditch) and picked it up ~2 weeks later.

Their examples are on that-there-instagram (including mine).
