Am really tempted by one of these, but they dont look particularly well sealed against the elements we experience in dear old Blighty, and just how hard is it to find replacement bearings?
Cheers

They're a sealed bearing, but other than that there is no extra sealing. Seem to last ok though, but they've not been around for a long enough time to really tell what longevity is like.

You'd be hard pushed to beat a Shimano unit though.

Yeah, a shimano will be fine.

Having a great bottom bracket has little show off value, no one ever sees them, so hiding a common shimano in there will be fine 😉

TA AXIX are an alternative, mid priced at around £70. They have a neat little lockring so you can fine tune the BB tightness, just like on old BBs.

New on the scene are Generic BBs, sealed etc at £35 ish... "High quality traditional style Cr-Mo JIS square axle BB with
precision cartridge bearings lightweight forged Alloy cups
and Carbon Fibre spacer."
