My trusty front Topeak Defender has broken after a couple of yrs service. Now being a spec wearer I really hate getting mud on my face ๐ and at the time of purchase the fork mounted front guards offered best protection. Now that Neoguards are all the rage wondering if that, combined with crud catcher on down tube would keep me as clean/less so.
Thanks
...and yes, I know mudguards look cack but I don't care !
Defender. No contest.
I have front crud catchers and home-made 'neoguards' on my MTBs and am very pleased. Little to go wrong and good value.
Crud rears have a mixed history....
Mark I was not detachable but worked well.
Mark II was detachable and rattled all the time unless glued in place.
Mark IIa seems to have fixed that issue.
All 3 leave broken debris in Swinley.....

I'm now running bender fenders from Mucky Nutz http://www.muckynutz.com/
Simple idea - well executed
I had a neoguard but in major crud which sticks to your tyres you end having to clear the rear of the guard. I will probably move to a mucky nutz instead
Neoguard - Damp/light mud. Wet Summer sort of conditions
Mucky Nutz/Crud Catcher - wet muddy conditions but not deep mud. Autumn into Winter type of thing
Defender/SKS Shockboard - Deep wet muddy quag (Current)
thanks all - think I'll stick on a new Defender
I have a crux catcher, and neoguard, only problem if had is mink collecting in-between the type and fork brace. Not had anything hit my face yet though.
Toepeak fender AWESOME.
