What is it about being a lesbian that makes you better at bike riding than a straight woman?

I ask because last night our group ride was joined by a rather unlikely rider, who we all know socially, but to be honest she is so teeny-tiny im surprised she can turn a pedal uphill. The only other female regular rider we have is also gay. The occassional straight female rider that joins us, really struggles.

Is there something about being a gay woman, testosterone perhaps, that makes them better riders, than you might expect?

Conversely, does anyone know or ride regularly with a gay male? Are they as 'butch' as the average man/riding lesbian

*Settles in to wingback*

*Sips on a nice fresh coffee*

This can only go well.

CFH - i was undr the impression you were some sort of high-powered City exec type who works ungodly hours, flogging themselves to the bone to keep the wheels of commerce oiled and spinning freely but...you seem able to spend more time on here than me, a lowly lazy off duty public servant? Good work fella!

The two gay blokes that I've ridden with (that I know of: I'm sure I've ridden with others) are just as good or as bad as people of their physique would normally be. One's a whippety type, and is as fast as you like. The other's a little more Clydesdale-like and not hugely fast.

Neither are mincing queens, there's no tinsel on their bikes, and equally, large moustaches are not worn. In short, there's none of the stereotypical nonsense the media seems to think defines gay blokes. These are cyclists who just happen to prefer their own gender. You'd certainly not know they were gay unless it were mentioned.

Cant really generalise on a such a small sample. Back in my swimming days then i was around alot of supremely fit female swimmers and there were no more lesbians amongst that lot than normal. However the female water polo team was a different story, this might just be a coincidence though.

anyway being teeny tiny is a huge advantage for going up hills

The scientific answer to the original question is that lezzers are good at doing man's things because their body thinks they're a man (due to some dodgy connections in the brain that cause the "gay" illness).

In poofs, the opposite is true which is why they mince about and go "ooooooh!" etc.

the average man/riding lesbian

I can't say I've met many man-riding lesbians but I'm sure if I did they'd be perfectly well-balanced people just like everybody else.

Well I knew "The Gays" had Special powers: Laser Eyes, Psychokinetic abilities and impeccable dress sense but I was no aware that "The Gene" also increased bike handling ability, does this mean that the current UCI top 10 are 90% Closet jobs?

Anyone want a Hobnob? (Offers plate around)..
