I’ve just bought some hope tech 3 e4 brakes for my cotic BFe, what size rotors would you recommend for all mountain/ enduro riding please?

200/180. Someone will be along in a minute to say "thing with Hopes is you just have to pull the lever harder and the modulation is superb!" but pulling the lever harder increases fatigue and reduces control. IMO they're just not that powerful. And yes they were set up right.

200/180 as above. Although i seem to have stopped bothering to put the 180 back on after lifted stuff and just stick to 200/200 year round.

200f/180r.
I did experiment with 180/160 and it worked just fine, even in the Alps with a big bloke like me on the bike. But given the very slight increase in weight, why wouldn't you.

There is a note on the Hope site that recommends 200 over 203 and 180 over 183 for future proofing reasons

I like 203/160, just gives a balance that I like over 203/180. There's no right answer though imo

I prefer smaller discs so they run hotter because of getting issues with cold glazing on pads on the tandem. that runs big discs but most of our riding does not need them. Pads get cold polished / glazed when pootling and take a few really hard stops at speed to get back to full working power. Needs the big discs tho for loaded touring

203/180 here too.

Plenty of power and control with my Zees/Codes.

Might have gone 203/203 but I have loads of 180 rotors in stock.

Yes I would go 200 / 180 as well.

I rand 180 front and back when I had E4s and they felt underwhelming. Loved the lever though.

200/180 (or 203/183). Anyway, get a bigger back one than 160mm. I have the same brakes and found the rear 160mm disc my Cotic Bfe hardtail got a bit hot, riding down steep stuff in the Swiss Alps. Admittedly that is (unfortunately) not my usual riding.

For normal, local riding, I still like the bigger rear disc as I am 85kg - 95kg (I suspect). I think the weight difference is negligible. The local trails have some steep bits.

Interesting point above about pads glazing; I try and counter this by braking hard, but not continually dragging my brakes on steep stuff (although I suspect in reality I do drag my brakes way too much).
