what about a look at merlin cycles? They have a few wheels on offer at the moment. You should be able to get some fulcrums for that price
Call big Al at Wheelcraft in Scotland (near Glasgow), he may still have some bargain 'new but last years model' dura-ace rear hubs - got a nice set of wheels ambrosio evolution rims (like open pro's) laced to hope pro 3 front, with dura-ace rear (with ti freehub - mmmmm) 32 spoke, handbuilt with panaracer ribmo tyres and tubes for £260!!!!!
Would have been around £225 without tyres. Wheelcraft build the best IMO, I think I got a bargain this time.
you really won't find anything better than model Bs for the money.
I did consider model B's, also just replacing the basic shimano RS10's that were flawless IMO.
However when seeing that I could get much bike pimpness for such little cash handbuilt was the way to go - the dura-ace hub is perfect... silent, durable and light... perfect for big miles, also that I have never buckled a 'wheelcraft built' wheel - my MTB wheels are 5 years old and never went out of true even after a 5ft to flat landing on a hardtail and some serious pounding. I think factory wheels can be and mostly are good, but with a bigger budget and handbuilt wheelset is unbeatable, plus you can select exactly the right build for you - I went for the best hubs as I do a lot of riding, with cheaper rims as they are ultimately expendable.
