Merlin. Shimano BB and brakes will be more trouble free IME than the GPX and Avid on the Whyte.

Those XC30s on a 29er on the Whyte is a bad choice. Lots of twanging.

Beone looks the best bet. I'm sure there are better choice out there. I'd be recommending a Boardman at that price, hell even the Voodoo Bizango:
