[#532934]

lets say i have about £350 to spend on a new frame.

would have to suit 130mm forks with a slack ish head angle.
and preferably made out of steal, something that will take a bit of abuse, but I'm only 9st. and can take gears L)

what are peoples ideas ?? i do like the charge frames, but no fussed.

cheers Alex

Inbred 456, Prince Albert, Genesis Altitude, Sanderson Breath of Life.

Not Steel I know, but I like the Whyte 19 frame.

One of these:

in a 16inch size

But i dont think they're out yet, maybe in a few weeks. Think they're £275 from CRC and they weigh about 5.5lbs so should be upto some abuse. They also have a slack head angle with 130mm forks.

Trail riding-Genesis Altitude is my fave-me want! but is ideal for 115-120mm but no prbs with 130mm. Wish it was in white.

Cove Handjob?

Inbred 456 is so cheap/bargain compared to the rest but Genesis do a cheaper steel that their top 853 but not as a frame only.

Email their product manager see if you can get a price.

Very happy with my NS society, only problem I've found so far is that you can't get much more than a 2.3" tyre in the back.

Your only nine stone, why saddle yourself with all the weight of an overbuilt frame and kit, unless your intending to drop off the roof of your house (a lot), overfork an XC frame to slacken it up and enjoy a lighter bike, should be able to find a frame up for the job thats under 4lb & not made of steel..... But if you gotta have it, overfork and Inbred, they can take 120mm forks anyhow, spend the money saved on going riding somewhere nice.

A 456 etc will be overkill at your weight.

Tinsy, the little sod is quick enough as he his so anything we can do to slow him down will keep us all happy, so if he wants a heavy frame thats alright by us.... 😀

Alex, speak to Craig..

I've always like the look of the Cove Handjob...

The more I think about a steel hardtail, the more it appeals. My alloy frame is very stiff, accurate and resonsive, but if I'm having a bad day it can leave me feeling a little beaten up.

If I get another hardtail it would probably be steel for the slightly 'softer' feel.

I have a dialled bikes alpine with moz allmountains on the front and can say that it is possibly the best bike i have ever had (and i have got through a fair few over the years).

admitadly not the greatest on the ups but is not far off as fast as my slayer (but more fun) on the way down.

tinsy, i have ridden bike until they have fallen to bits.

i like to ride fast downhill, i also race downhill, so i have the habit of jumping anything i can.

i also prefer steal. as my SS is a IO which i really like just can't bomb it on the downs.

its going to be fro trail centres and much about on etc.

i really like the dialled Aplines, they look wicked, and apparently ride nice.
