Just looking on crc for a new front mech and totally confused with all the different options! Would any inbred owners like to point me in the right direction please?

Don't know about SRAM but any Shimano one will do: they all dual pull now (Top swing or conventional) and come with shims for different seattube diameters.

I've just geared by Scandal.. Phoned On One and they happily told me what to get (I went with a SRAM X9 btw and it's fantastic)
