[Closed] Which chainset on a home made fat bike

The Marrowfat is about to be returned to life. I've bodged a 88mm DH chainset on it to fit around the 4" tyre - basically using spacers on the BB cups and moving it out to the right as far possible (this was limited by the fact that the spindle is stepped for the bearings so I could only shift it so far). It's only really got clearance for the middle ring though and I'd love to run a small ring on it. The rear hub is offest 17.5mm to the left (as Pugsley).

Any ideas on how to improve the situation with a 68mm BB?

PIc for the haterz :

I could come round with my beretta shotgun and improve the situation?, sometimes you have to let old marins die in peace.

Cheers Nick but I'm stuck with 68mm, unless I carbon on the extra 32mm ๐Ÿ˜›

Scaredy, it's the original back end "adapted" for the rr wheel - lengthened, widened and offset. I under-engineered it though and it's getting repaired soon.

Also dont see why you cant fit 100 mm bb

Fit cups as normal

Use spacers on axel to take up extra and get cranks where you want em.

NO! (everyone asks...)

Hmmm your suggestion requires axle not to be stepped.

Would also cost proper money!

Hey al. What about getting some oversized/extended BB cups made? This would at least allow it to fit properly, though might not help much with the inner ring thing!

- How much can you space out a regular chainring - stick a 32 front and 34 out back ?
