Reading this thread, I'd have to say Santa Cruz myself.
😀
Do correct me if I'm mistaken though.
I have not read the thread but would have to agree.
It's the same with anything though; you get a certain breed of person who is easily led/not much of a thinker, and they'll buy into the hype with everything they purchase. See Apple/VW T5s/Santa Cruz/tattoos/Titanium bikes etc. etc. Of course some people buy the aforementioned stuff because it's good; you can spot them as they're not on a forum defending their purchasing decisions.
Diamondback.
RM.
Dunno, you need something a bit more love/hate than SC.
OnOne?
I have a love hate and a Santa Cruz and an On one
I also have an orange 5
Fluro Nukeproof 29er owners normally. 😉
Oh god it's a toss-up between SC and Orange for that prize.
I once dared mention that I thought that in the world of 650b Endruo bikes, Intense's Tracer makes more sense than the 'so hardcore it's not even enduro anymore' Nomad and the 'it's more of a Trail Bike' Bronson, but even that hissy fit comes a long second to the time I joked that Orange have been selling the basic same bike since Noah wheeled his 5 off the Arc.
No sense of humour some people 😉
OP
Yeah you are probably right mate ..if that makes you happy 😉
You're all wrong...
Thorn.
Jones? Apart from ton, obvs.
You're all wrong...Thorn.
I'm not exactly precious about mine, had it 12 years or so and still not cleaned it 🙂

Ah come on, I checked in all my self-respect when I bought a frame in that colourscheme.
Precious about the bike or precious about the brand name/image?

I can hardly talk. My bike's mint coloured and is an Orange, I also fancy a Santa Cruz. To top it all I live within spitting distance of London, have a handful of tattoos and what could be construed as a beard. By all accounts I should be driven from stw by a baying mob.
Surly.
Love my bike, but this beard oil costs a bomb.
Dude.

But have you cut the steerer.
"Please post pictures of your'e Orange Five"
WTF!!! kill me now.
Is the 'e Orange Five the new version with a motor?
Not so much a brand thing, more of a genre...
Fat bikers, defo. They're so much fun and the FS has been lying unused etc etc blah blah blah....
😆
Surly and Cotic.
Fatbikes eh?
Miles per smile, grin factor!
Shut it you bloody hippies!
I've 'made up' a new name for Orange 5's.
Orange Fiveling Cabinets.
defending their purchasing decisions
The funniest people on here to be fair and also the most easily triggered. Have they convinced themselves they are convincing everyone else?
Gotta watch them re-sale values boys!
I'd say specialized.
But my spesh has been lying unloved since i got a fat bike
😆

TBF for some one to have no sense of humour, humour needs to be present in the first place. 😉
Skoda Superb owners.

Whichever bike I own at the time!
I once met Rob Roskopp at Stainburn, didn't seem precious at all and was loving the steeper lines around the crag.
No way. Who ever said Surly is wrong. In fact I can't believe they said Surly.
I said it!
It was tongue in cheek as that is what I own 😉
Although somehow the wink ^ was missing off my original post which kind of ruined it 🙄

It was missing off mine too 😉
Fellow Surly owner I take it?
More than 1 by any chance?
1. Orange
2. Orange
3. Orange
4. Pinarello
5. Santa Cruz (even though I have one, wink)
Got to be Surly. I got totally flamed once for merely questioning why their cranks rust.
It's got to be orange. No matter what I want another santa Cruz, the last 3 were awesome and my real test is when mates in the trade skip their brands and get sc you know it's a good bike.

Rubbing some 'tache wax on them with a check shirt will stop that.

Snap. I'm on 2 and counting.
I know of 2 others I'd like at least!
Just the one for me at the mo.
🙂
Niece and her partner have it bad, A, 1*1, LHT, Crosscheck and an Instigator so far.
He's just sold his ECR to fund a Disk Trucker.
🙂
The 1*1 is my favourite.
Most folk on here seem a bit precious to me.
Some don't even ride bikes.
Weird thread that other one. Why do people care what brands other people wouldn't buy or don't like? Odd
Anyone who thinks they are better than another rider because their bike cost more

Anyone who doesn't realise the engine matters more than the bike.
I could buy the very bestest bike ever and still be slower than some guys riding one legged unicycles backwards.
So I prefer simple bikes that will last and not break and don't have complicated stuff on them like derailleurs and bouncy bits.
Singlespeeders. They never bloody shut up about it.
And the 'steel is real' crowd.

Last time I was at Swinley, someone told me I shouldn't attempt some section or other because my bottom bracket was too low/high (can't remember which).
It was one of the stranger things anyone's said to me about bikes. (But it was a Saturday…)

Probably because they're vegan.
I'm going with Orange- Santa Cruz owners are often precious, but Orange owners take it due to the peerless level of offendedness.
For instance, a guy with a cracked Alpine once got very offended when I said Alpines have cracking issues. How dare you! They're bombproof! Dude, yours is actually broken. NO! BOMBPROOF!
What would be the exact opposite of precious? ie, you have a cheap uncool bike and you are a dick about it around people you've just "beaten" who have expensive bikes? That's totally me.
Well... if you
1. had a cheap bike.
2. were any good at being a dick
3. ever beat people.
1 out of 4 isn't too bad I suppose.
Definitely orange.. Nice enough bikes but basic and overpriced
If they were made in Taiwan they would be slated, but given they are made in a shed in Halifax by a guy with an hnc in welding and a hammer they are above criticism.
They also appear to have the loyalist fan Base of any manufacturer. There are so many good bikes out there I struggle to see why folks always stick to one brand.
I'm no orange hater though, the alpine I rode was ace. But there are lots of ace bikes available, many far cheaper.

Aye, they never have to take a break for maintenance... 🙂
Anyone with a 26 😉 they are getting all prise it from my cold dead hands again.
I have a Santa Cruz and a T5...I don't know what to do with myself now...
But I also have a YT and a Pinnacle...and a Passat...
I don't know where to turn..what niche should I fall in to?
Please judge me
I have a steel 26"er. Hold on, I have 2 - one's a '90's Kona. What do I win?

Any mtber who brags about overtaking a roadie on a road climb.
Anyone with one of those hilarious Charlie the bawbag magnet stickers on their rigid ss.
Charlie the bawbag magnet
What has Charlie ever done to you? I thought everyone liked him!
If you read it back again, you'll realise it's not aimed at Charlie in the slightest dear boy.... 😀
Nobody has mentioned ebikes, sorry, I mean mopeds 😉
and I've got a single speed/ti bike 🙁
What about those folks with a sticker of their name on the bike? That's pretty precious?...
If you read it back again, you'll realise it's not aimed at Charlie in the slightest dear boy.
'Bawbag magnet', not 'magnet stickers' then 😆
Most people I've met with Kleins are pretty precious, especially when you tell them their bike is old and rubbish. 😆
Are we talking owners of the bikes or owners of the brand? They're completely different and the original question was "which bike brand's owners . . . ?"
I've got no suggestions I'd write on a public forum but I've got a few in mind. 😆
Bike owners, but you're obviously itching to dish the dirt so please go ahead...
