Got a few days off next week so was thinking of jumping in the van and go riding somewhere.

Was wondering about the state of the tweed valley, Dunkeld + Ae? I know the former well but haven't ridden the other 2. Have heard good things about them but was wondering if anyone had insight into how many fallen trees are still affecting it, or how boggy they are?

If all are still a bit ruined then might just visit the folks in bristol and go to south wales from there.

Thanks for any info

If visiting Bristol then Cwmcarn / Risca is all riding fine at the moment. There were a few trees down a few weeks back but I think there’s plenty of off piste still rideable. Flicky wet mud but the trails are all running fast and there’s no gloop that I found really. Busting to get back there for some more exploring.

I don't know if it includes Dunkeld but there's a high fire risk warning covering much of the Highlands so that'll give you an idea of how dry things are.

Thanks for the advice guys. Trip to Bristol might be a good idea then, weather looks good mon-weds next week!

Does anyone have a gpx for some exmoor/quantocks stuff? I used to ride there years ago as a kid on a 100mm hardtail but if going there now I wouldn't mind finding some steeper + techier stuff - will either be on my rocketmax or my bfe depending on if my shock makes it back from tftuned by tomorrow.

This might be the time for me to check out wylie/barry sidings near risca as well - i know the cwm carn stuff reasonably well now. Is it just a case of following trailforks or again, does anyone have some gpx files I could follow?

If anyone else is about and wants a riding buddy for these days/areas then fire me a message also!

Thanks

Tweed Valley is drying up pretty well at the moment and the weather also looks promising for next week.
Even with a few trails still closed there is plenty to go at.

The Peak is actually riding pretty well right now. There's been enough wind to dry out most of the sludge and while there's a lot of water damage and some interesting new boulder fields in random places, it's pretty good considering how much rain we've had recently.

This.

I might be out in Peak or lakes midweek. Shout if you fancy that.

Yeah I saw a recent clip of devils elbow at blacka yesterday I was amazed how bone dry it looked. Itching to get out this weekend

I live in Crosspool, the peaks peak (sorry) is my usual stomping ground! Was wanting to change it up what with a few days off 😉

If anyone wants to do a ride over the weekend though I would be keen? Will be limited to the hardtail but that more slows me down than limits what I can ride (testament to the bike, not the rider...). Happy for pedal out the door from west Sheffield or start a bit deeper in the peaks.

Id be up for a ride in The Tweed Valley in the week next week. Or any week.
A bit tied up with pre arranged rides on weekends.
I'm always up for a ride now I've got plenty of time on my hands.

The Peak canal has dried out well. Was an absolute quagmire last Thursday, back on the commute on Tuesday/Thursday this week and it's more or less mud free - the bike looks clean still after two days and 52 miles of riding on the canal.

Tarmac is fairly dry too, but still seeing quite a bit of run off from hills/fields when on the road bike.
