looking for somewhere to stay in Dorset next week with the wife.
hotel for 2 or 3 nights, preferably with a nice restaurant.
somewhere cozy and traditional would be nice.
in a town would rather than in the sticks.
anyone got any recommendations?

Mortons House Hotel in Corfe Castle is good. Not really the sticks but a village.

Got a two story kids playhouse in the garden you can stay in for free. Bit nippy though this time of year though!

2nd vote for Corfe Castle, especially if the hotel referred to above is half a mile up the road from the square on the left. If it is we had a weekend there a couple of years back and was good. Ice walks and easy reach of largr towns.

Purbeck house hotel in swanage is quite grand, nice places to eat nearby..

Corner restaurant and chilled red are very good. I had ostriche with Yorkshire puds last time. Black swan does nice food in a nice quiet pub. Partridge and chestnut casserole is ace.

Rusty's playhouse is lacking in mod cons, but he has 2 young servants who are quite a laugh...!

Swanage is worth trying, a nice village for a few days.
