I have been movng house forever and not biking, but this weekend I really am hoping to remove the dust from the bike and go and explore near where I am. Any suggestions of places near the above? Any locals fancy showing me a few urban trails? Only got the morning and havent ridden in a while... ta.

I used to live in Hampton and always loved going to Hampton Court, crossing over the bridge and then riding along the river away from London. But in those days my riding was somewhat less adventurous than it was nowadays. It may not be your scene but in the summer if you stop off at a pub it will be a great day out riding.

If it's singletrack you are after I am sure the others will be along soon with their recommendations.

Plenty of stuff around Esher Common and Oxshott Woods. If you don't know the area well yet, start from the upper car park at Oxshott station and explore from there.

Oxshott station and head NW, over Oxshott Heath towards Esher Common. There's some nice bits of twisty singletrack around there, and it all sort of 'radiates' out NW from Oxshott station... The bit of singletrack running directly under that line of pylons above the words 'Esher Common' on the map used to be our bestest ever bit back in the day (1995-ish, 17yrs old..)

Have fun..!

Must be worthwhile to try and work out a route down to the N.Downs sometime - probably via Effingham, Bookham or Leatherhead.

I've tried along the thames going into london and might do the other way simon but I guess it'll be full of dog walkers and lacking in the ole singletrack stakes.

I've tried the bridleway from oxshott towards esher and it was ok, not bad to keep away from the traffic and it sounds like basically I should carry on exploering around there. cheers guys good info.
