[Closed] Where/how much to have a part machined/customised (coil fork content)

I'm looking to get a plunger piston for a coil fork, copied - and the length customised. Basically, PUSH don't do a 180mm ACS-3 conversion and 180 is what I need for my new frame. I've measured up the solid height of the spring, so it should work.

Any idea on who I should go to and how much it's going to cost me?

Where are you?

I can do it, cost is completely dependent on what is involved in making it, so could be £20 if it's a simple spacer type piston to anything a one off item. Does it have any bearing surfaces, bushes, seals etc.

Also are you 100% sure that the spring isn't going to go coil bound at fully compresed because it will be a full metal on metal bottom out and likely to damaged things.

I'll respond in more detail this evening when I have more time, i used the calculation for closed and ground springs (N-0.75)*average diameter of the wire - and came up with 188mm before the coil bound.

With the ACS-3 you can never quite fully bottom it out anyway because of the air bump stop that has a tiny main chamber volume.

Cheers chaos 🙂 that was a nice response.

I'm based in London and Sheffield.

I'll strip the fork this weekend - I'm hoping the black nut looking thing on the piston, just before you get to the blue nut - is actually a nut and comes off - if it does, this should be simple yes? If not, I could send you the part out to copy?

How did you get on with working out what you want? I couldn't figure out how to find this thread again...
