Just from the scary Fox stanction thread I've been guilt tripped into getting some Suspension Fluid for my Fox Float 36s (Not Kashima.

So where's cheapest?

Is the official Fox the best?

I believe I need 7wt and Fox Fluid?

Thanks!

To do my Rebas and Vanillas I used Silkoline from the Yamaha dealer.

About half the price.

For damping duties, I use motorcycle suspension fluid (have a look on the PVD wedsite and there's a table that matches spec). For sloshing around duties, I use motorcycle engine oil as it seems to cling better and have a greater resistance to wear.

PJ1 usually or sometime Yamalube [I get that free though]

Or sometimes I just buy Fox as the bike shop is nearer than the motorsport shop I use

I ignore the arbitrary wt rating (which isn't a fixed standard, and not only changes between brands, but even between different ranges of the same brand!), instead using centistokes, and get the equivalent weight of Castrol Synthetic fork oil at either Halfords (500ml 10w £7.49) or off Amazon (500ml 5w £6.61).

The viscosity of most common suspension oils in centistokes can be found here

You can mix viscosities to arrive at your chosen weight of oil, and Shell have a free program called Shell Bunker Calc which can do the calculations for you.

I use Putoline from a local MX shop cos its about £9 per litre and they stock everything from 2.5w right up to 20w

You MUST use fully synthetic whatever you go for though, but most of the top brands (Silkolene, Castrol, Putoline, CVI, Shell etc) all make oils up to the job.

Chain reaction sells fork oil too nowadays if you just want to be lazy and order off them...
