I was buying a bike for a sick relative (cancer) and their last week of riding for nearly a year.

Was hoping to ride all week with them but can't as the bike hasn't arrived.

I should have taken delivery last Friday and nobody (supplier) knows where the bike is.

Relative is in surgery on Tuesday and with physio lasting 6-18 months won't be riding.

Not LBS fault but the supplier I do think is rubbish.

Would it be fair to ask for my deposit back and buy elsewhere.

I'm tempted to just pay for a feed the lions outing in case they don't get through surgery.

Given the circumstances, I'd say yes.

(Wishing them best of luck with the surgery)

Fair to ask for your money back.

Where are you, I'm sure stw can provide a bike for this weekend.

In this situation I would explain my regret at pulling out and go buy elsewhere. No one can really take offence.

Thanks for the offers/kindness.

I'm still going to wait for the bike and use the bike as a carrot maybe to speed up recovery.

Booking tickets to the zoo...

I'm amazed at all the kindness on here - thank you all.

I managed to buy a Boardman CX Team for my old man, quick build and it'll be his first 30 miler and his last ride until he recovers from surgery from prostate cancer.

Fingers crossed.

Thanks again everyone for the well wishes and the kind bike offers too.
