My rear wheel needs re-truing but probably a new rim/build and hub grease (Hope). Who should I go to? Anyone in particular? There were some great folk in the Northern Quarter (Gob and the Hippy) but they've gone 🙁
Hora - Ken Fosters in Chorlton have built 2 rear wheels for me after I'd trashed the rims. They do a great job! Last time was the Bonty Rhythm's, they replaced all the wheel bearings and rebuilt the freehub
If you can get across to Halifax Hora, Pedal Sport in King Cross rebuilt my old back wheel and as far as I'm aware, its still going strong (3 years later including an Alps trip).
Will’s Wheels on the A6 if you are South Manchester. They are a bit of a race bike specialist so not great on suspension and disk brakes but for wheels they offer a good service.
Gob and the Hippy are sadly missed.
Amen I tried to find where they'd gone next but nothing- their FB page is silent etc. They built me a set of road/track wheels that hit kerbs, were ridden flat home 😯 with no deviation/wobble etc etc. Awesome.Gob and the Hippy are sadly missed.
Rich at Keep Pedalling in the Northern Quarter has built a bunch of wheels for me over the years and they've all been totally sound, in fact I'm about to throw a horribly abused set of Hope Hoops at him for a proper true-up and possible rebuild on the rear. Good people, nice shop.

Withington cycles have always done me proud, closer to town the bike boutique are a geniune bunch of guys who know their stuff and aren't out to rip you off.
