So about 6 years ago (?) I went to Glencoe to try out their newly opened red DH. I survived but it was not much fun for me at the time.

What’s it like / how hard is it really? I have a few more skills and a bigger bike than I had last time 🙂

We’re up that way later this week and might give it another shot.

The red looks far better than it used to be FWIW.

I remember it just being really loose and not at all bedded in.

And cold & raining!

Just checked my photos. It was September 2012!

I was still on my old old hard tail with rim brakes!

It's effectively a different track now- totally rebuilt. (I did the first SDA race they ran on it and it was just falling to bits around us). Haven't ridden the new one yet though

That might have been a factor in how fun you found it 😀

The brakes I mean, hard tails are fine.

I was up there not long agao. The Red is OK, it's pretty well bedded in, it's fun in a sort of "rattle your fillings out" sort of way. The Black on the other hand, is I think, the hardest DH in the country open to the public.

Was there last weekend. Red is all good. Few of the berms are a bit odd (in a bit soft not really flowy type way) but all rides fine. Not particularly hard IMO but fairly rough. Don't try to send all the doubles without checking them out. They do all roll.
Black is great if you treat it as techy, steep enduro type run as opposed to a go fast DH race run.

It’s dry, loose, rocky & great fun.

The sun is helping, it’s glorious and no one else is here!

There was one on the 27th June. Didn't know it was on but were passing by and saw it was on so stopped for a couple of hours to spectate.
