[Closed] What’s the current equivalent of THAT Planet X Merino hoody?

You know, the one Planet X item that didn’t shrink, fitted well, the zip worked and actually kept you warm all IMHO yet was only about £20 or so?

Ive worn so many holes in mine now it’s barely staying together, and I need a workshop/camping hoody of equal measure to replace it.

This question came up a while ago. I've got the non-hooded version - grey with a black band across the middle.

Brant popped up & said that they weren't gonna re-do it as they had so many warranty issues with people putting it through a hot wash & shrinking it.

Someone posted a Surfanic merino hoodie, which was reduced to £20 or £30.
I bought one. It's not as good as the On One one. It's thinner & the hood is a funny shape if you actually use it (which I don't).
It's definitely worth the money, but I've just checked the Surfanic website to see if it's still on there & it seems to be down.

Howies do one and there was a sale on at the weekend - it will be a bit more but the stuff is well made and comfy.

Isobaa stuff is good, got a few of their items and all well made.

Sportpursuit is usually the cheapest place and they always seem to have them in (own brand?).

If you find anywhere else cheaper though post a link here!

Well it was my birthday so I treated myself to a Rapha Explore in their Archive Sale, for £10 more than that ISOBAR". https://www.rapha.cc/gb/en/shop/explore-technical-hoodie/product/EEH01XXCBN

I should have mentioned I prefer a zip up front than a pullover hoodie.

I'm not sure they have own brand merino. Their in-house brand is, I'm pretty sure, Fjern. It has its own 'brand' website, but SP is pretty much the only place it's ever sold at a sort of notional discount. Includes eVent waterproofs, down stuff and merino blend baselayers and is good value for what it is.

I've got a Rab hoodie that looks very similar to that Rapha one, and a Haglofs one which was a fair bit more expensive but is really nicely made. Also Alpkit do some for ~£40 which look decent (and probably are).
