[Closed] What's the chances of selling this - better to split?

Hi,

So my new steed arrived today, but what am I to do with the old one. I would rather get rid of it all as easily as possible so selling as a complete bike would be preferable but I'm doubtful if I will be able to shift it as a complete bike. I should be able to sell at least some of the parts.

I'm coming from a 26" 9 speed triple set up to a 29" 10 speed double so not much can be kept as spares.

The bike is a 2009 Boardman Comp HT although most parts have been changed along the way. Original parts include Rockshox Recon solo air fork, Ritchey bars and seat post and Sram X5 shifters.

Other components include Sram X7 front and rear mechs, shimano SLX brakes (m666 leavers with m675 calipers), 6 bolt shimano rotors (rt56 I think), deore HT2 crankset (silver), pacenti TL28 rims on blue switch hubs set up tubeless with spesh fast trak front and renegade rear, both 9mm QR.

There are a few niggles. The fork has never been serviced and does make a clunking noise when it compresses. It holds the air though and the stanchions have no marks or scrapes. Also there is a lot of play in the headset which needs sorting. Other than that there is general wear and tear, scrapes and scuffs as would be expected of a bike this age.

Bike is used as a daily commuter when I'm not brave enough for the road bike (most of winter and heavy rain), pootling around the bridleways and trails, now usually with my 7 year old in tow, and the very occasional trip to hamsterly.

So do you think I would be better splitting or trying to sell as a whole bike. Also any ideas on how much I can realistically expect as a full bike or for various bits. I'm not after alot, I basically just want it gone to create some room in the garage.

Cheers for any help or advise you can give.

Rob

Have you considered a stealth ad in the main forum? Might increase your chances 😉

To be fair it's better than some of the for sale ads in the classifieds

Rather impressed that the OP has managed to find that there's a forum beyond the classifieds.

Surely a stealth ad would require pics. I see this as more of a casual interest generator. 😀

If you call it a "steed" then I'd suggest a horse market.

For a bike like that, sell whole on your local FB bike group or maybe ebay.

You're just gonna be left with a load of crap nobody wants if you split it.

what chakaping said.
No-one is going to buy much of that as components.
Flog it whole in a local FB group or on Gumtree.
£100 maybe.
