Amazing!

Loads of singletrack riding < 1 mile from city centre and loads of active clubs. CwmCarn, Afan, Breacons, Mendips, Quantocks, Cotswolds, Salisbury Plain, Exmoor all within 1 - 2 hours.

Check out www.thecheesyriders.com and www.bristolmountainbikeclub.co.uk

Good if you live near Ashton Woods area. If not, you'll have to travel a bit more than some places I've lived. Loads within an hours drive. Some local riders are a bit 'seasonal' and some of them promise hugs then don't turn up. Fickle lot ๐Ÿ™„

Aye, they're a radge lot alright.

Its Leigh Woods and Ashton Court mind. Bleeding RAF, no wonder they end up bombing the wrong towns, cannae read a map.

Good. Nice local network of trails, good variety fo riding from ambient jeycore to quite testing DH, lots of bike shops, lots of friendly people, a couple of active clubs. As ADH says above, it's a bit weather-dependent, but hopefully that will be changing soon:

Still has been a pretty widely known "secret" for a long time - a few people have told me it was featured in MBUK back in 2000. Fingers crossed, we should be getting it back as a riding spot soon, albeit on a more formal basis.

Total rubbish. The trails suck BIG TIME, the beer is shocking, there's no bike shops and they especially hate any visitors.
AND there's no cake worth eating either. 8)

I just wish there were more trails being developed away from Ashton Court and that area.

There are almost none for those of us on the Northern edge of the ring road. I am still exploring despite all evidence thus far.

Ah good point....i forget most of Bristol is actually to the north of the city centre!

I'm out near the airport so can access Ashton Court,Leigh Woods and coombes like Bourton, Taps, Brockley and Goblin from my place.

I have no idea whats to the north of Bristol.

That's because you ate it all! ๐Ÿ˜‰

As everyone's said Bristol's great for riding in the summer but the mud is mostly clay and is under tree cover and on top of rock so takes ages to dry out making the local trails horrible in the winter. Plenty of good stuff nearby too.

ambient jeycore
Shoes for Industry founded that genre of music back in the eighties in Bristol. I saw them a few times in the Dugout

North Bristol is pretty crap for stuff in easy riding distance (as in no more than 5 miles on-road), it's usually a case of bike in the car then either drive to LW/AC or Cwmcarn/Afan.
