I was out on a ride last night and my revs started acting really funny!!
We got caught in some really muddy/clay bits and my forks got absolutley plastered in the stuff and since then the have gone really stiff and wont rebound properly??
It felt like to much air in the pos chamber so i let some out and now the are just sinking and making horrbile clunking noises??
whats wrong with them and is it time for a service??
cheers
steve
Won't REBOUND you say?
Well +ve air is the spring, so by letting some out, you're making it worse as the spring will be weaker.
Reset the pressures for a start, let all the +ve & -ve air out, set the +ve to the desired pressure, then set the -ve to the same pressure.
Try that for a start!
cheers pp i did that this morning , set them to what i normally have in there and they went so stiff i thought id left the lock out on!!
I set the rebound to the fastest setting and they where coming up really slow.
i think they might be broke!
Ahh OK. Service time methinks, it's probably contaminated oil clogging the damping circuit up.
I'd get them of to TFTuned myself. £80 and they'll come back workin like a new fork, or probably better.
🙂
I thought only fox forks broke in English weather?
yeah but you should of seen the mud that was clining to them!!!
They're probably not broken.
How much use do they get?
How old are they
When were they last serviced....?
get used quite a bit
dont get serivced much!!

It will be contaminated oil, I've had it more than once after having ridden in very very muddy conditions and I service mine regulary.
Give them an oil service and I'm sure they will be fine,
Clean them off then lift the seals on top of the legs and re lube the foam rings.
Re seat the seal and they should be much faster on the rebound.
