Hi Guys,

I dont really follow the latest and greatest stuff but I need a new bottom bracket and wondered if someone could point me in the right direction?

Its to replace my race face one. My cranks are race face evolve xc and its an x type bottom bracket. My BB shell is 68mm.

The important bit is I only really want to spend £40 tops...

Any suggestions?

Cheers,

Andy.

Anything that doesn't say raceface on it. Terrible, terrible BB's!

TBH shimano ones are cheap and seem to last ages, so thats probably my recomendation.

Go for a Shimano XT. It will work with your cranks without any problems.

Hope are also great but slightly over budget.

Hope or Chris king. Forget Shimano their stuff is rubbish, always break their bottom brackets. My Hope is going on 3 years old with no need to replace the bearings yet, which you can't do with the Shimano ones.

Just had a look on Chain Reaction. Got a bit carried away and bought a ceramic hope... in red.... It matches everything else sort of... Plus 10% off... Meh. Its only money 🙂 Thanks for the info everyone!

Shimano XT ones last longer than anything else pretty much, except maybe Chris King or Phil Wood bearings.

And they're £12.75 each from Rosebikes... Nuff said really!
