Like everyone else, the few recent damp days have gotten me thinking about winter.

So what are my options for a tyre that is -

Tubeless ready

Has good puncture resistance

For road use only

Min 28c

My Hutchinson Sectors have been good so far. Much better in the wet than Schwalbe pro ones.

Also, a lightly tied on balloon for making those sculptures with would be better in terms of puncture resistance than a ProOne - unless they've bucked up their ideas in tha last 18 months (maybe that's why ransos finds them skiddy ?)

Currently on spesh roubaix pro.  Seem OK in the dry; we'll see about wet days

Panaracer Gravelking slicks. Not marked as tubeless but work perfectly in practice. Now onto my third set and I rarely ever get the same tyres twice!

Recommend what you own etc so...Hutchinson fusion 5 eleven storm

catchy name eh? But a great tyre, grippy, durable and goes on super easy and is tubeless.

Cheers all. Plenty for me to take a look at there. I’ve been using Schwalbe Pro Ones this summer. Great tyres but the rear is looking very tired. I’d like something more durable for the winter

Is there a difference between Schwalbe G One and G One Speed tyres?

G One Speed has the old Schwalbe One carcass and is lighter, only comes in 30c. The G One is a more robust, heavier carcass from their cross/mtb side. Comes in widths wider than 30c. The Speed is a road tyre, and surprisingly fast.

Usual ease of mounting too.

Sector's here too. Light enough, tough enough, roll well enough.

Hutchinson Fusion 5 all season, 11storm for preference but older compound one may be much cheaper if still available.

Ex-Pro One user here too.

I’m a big fan of the 40c G Ones that I’ve been using this summer so think I’ll give the 30c G One Speeds a shot this winter

G-one speed comes in 30, 35 and 38c now just like the g-one allround, the German online places have them. Speed version is heavier and has the v-guard puncture belt, allround has slightly more prominent nobbles on it.

Been using the 38c g-one speed for commuting and towpaths etc, it’s great. One puncture in 6 months, sealed with a smear of flexible superglue then later reopened & needed an anchovy, massive shard of glass that would have done for most tyres/tubes. Will probably replace them with 35s when they wear out so that I can fit mudguards.

I'm a bit over Schwalbe tyres.  The Pro Ones I had were ridiculously tight to fit on the rim.  Took ages to get inflated with a pop bottle blaster, and when I did get a puncture, almost impossible to get off.  Plus I found their grip in the winter months to be quite bad.

I've also moved on from my Ron/Ralph combo on the MTB to Vittoria instead.

Resurrecting this thread...    as I'm in the market for a set of tubeless, winter 28mm-30mm tyres.

Seems like the favourites from the above comments are the Specialized Roubaix Pro 2Bliss (what the heck is '2Bliss' anyway??)

and...

The Hutchinson Sector

Any thoughts from people who've owned both... in terms of:

- Wet weather grip?

- Durability (to punctures, cuts, etc)?

- Ease of setting up tubeless?

Also, any other tubeless road winter tyre recommendations now that winter is just around the corner?

Sector user here.

Much better in the wet than the Pro Ones they replaced

Gone up tubeless with a track pump, or a pop bottle blast at a worst case. Plus I can get them onto my rims with my hands or a normal plastic tyre lever as I spend most of time in front of a computer.  The Pro Ones were the worst tyres I have ever had for getting onto, or getting them off of my rims.

No cuts or issues around where I ride, and the roads are not great with lots of crap washed onto the road at the moment.

I am running the 'Bontrager AW2 Hard-Case Lite TLR' in a 28, tubeless on 2 bikes. Generally been a great tyre.

Last winter on Schwalbe G-one speed, very good. This winter on Specialized Roubaix 2Bliss which were cheaper and I am finding grippier and roll well, even coming off my summer Pro-ones.

2Bliss? The clue's in the name?

Got Mavic Yksion Pro UST on at the mo but going to give a set of these a go for the winter if I can get the 28’s in the frame:

Ran the Hutchinson Fusion 5 Performance all summer, and been using the Hutchinson Fusion 5 All season for the last few weeks. Both went up tubeless easier than any MTB tyre I've used. Very impressed with grip (11 Storm compound), but can't comment on long term durability yet.

They are very true to size, so they can seem small if you're used to running Contis.
