The black starts at Dixons Hallow, but depending of what time you start/finish you could get locked in! If your getting there abit later, keep going on the toll road past Dixons hallow (this is if your coming to dixons hallow from the Vis Centre) you get to a wooden hut just after a gate. Park up on the junction/corner there on a fireroad. You'll be fine there, done the exact thing many times and then just join the black from across the road there. Once you're done, if they have closed the gates, just head down the rest of the toll road and that road will take you through Hackness and to Scarborough. When you get to hackness, go right where the village hall is and follow the road to West/East Atyon where you can then either head right to Pickering or left onto the A64 back to York.
the gates at the south side do not close at all.
