I picked up this bike of ebay last week for a bargain price and don't mind spending a few quid to lose some weight of it. It's already got some XT v-brakes fitted!
Would anyone know what size steerer/headset the forks are likely to be. The current ones are a threaded steerer.

it will either be 1" or 1 1/8" without looking/ measuring it's impossible to guess. you should be able to measure the quill stem.
7/8" is 1" steerer.
1" is 1 1/8" steerer

It is very hard to guess from a photo, but having compared it to a couple of photos of small frames I have, I'd say it was 1 1/8"
Don't hold me to that though!
