I've been using a Hope QR Mk.1 for a while and I strongly dislike it, my old Salsa was so much better. Besides, I don't need a QR. With Xmas coming soon I want to make things easier on my wife and tell her the present I'd like. As money is tight at the moment, a new clamp would be good. What and why would you recommend? Thomson? Straitline? Deity? I am a bit of a logo whore and tend to match seatposts and stems (Thomson) but I also like pretty things.
Can you help to choose, please?
Thanks!
Another Salsa? I've never had a problem with my Fliplock and Liplock. They also come in pretty colours (though their red is a little more orange than other popular brands).
I got a Thomson one... It's 29.8mm but is spot on IMHO..
Where's a good place to buy from? I'm in Ireland, loads of shops want to bankrupt me with their P&P charges.
Wiggle do free delivery...
I got my Thomson one from uk bikestore..
had a salsa flip - great. now have a liplock - great. match my qr's! could go the whole thomson route which would be pleasing on the eye.
Tang, if Thomson did QR axles, would it not be proper bike porn?
When you buy a Thomson clamp, is it true you also get a wallet? For just around 20 quid (CRC price IIRC).

No, just a little hessian bag, same as come with their stems/ seatposts..
thomson imo have bucked the greed factor by not wandering into other parts. however, bars would be nice.....
Shame, I liked the idea ๐
Salsa, Straitline or Thomson, hmmmmm. All quality, need to think (or consider a QR to complicate things a bit more).
I've used quite a few and would say Salsa's have been the best so far. Haven't tried a Thomson one yet though.
