I was at B&Q yesterday, I had to park in the far away car park and walk to the door. I chose to walk across the front of the building where the disabled car parking spaces are.

As I walked along I had to weave in and out of all the cars parked really far forward, but nothing particularly bad.

Then I got to the bike parking space, which I had never seen before, about ten of those wheel stands bolted to the wall in front of a disabled parking space.

The car that was parked in the space was so far forward that no bikes were ever going to be parked in there and if a bike had been parked in there it would be a unicycle by now.

It got me thinking about what B&Q are playing at, are the bike stands there purely so they can hit a green target or was it a planning error that they never anticipated.

I feel the urge to write a strongly worded letter, but I would never ride to B&Q.

write a letter...see what they say. Sure they will give you the courtesy of a response.

Much the same as my local B&Q - funny shaped bikes there.

they opened a brand new tesco down from me. no bike parking facilities to be seen. even the lampposts are too wide to get a d-lock around...

I informed a store manager at a Tesco monstermarket (or whatever they're called) that the cycle stand had been affixed too close to the wall, so that either wheel would prevent the bike being positioned in a way that would allow a lock to pass through the frame and the stand. When I returned at the same time the next day, the stand had been perfectly repositioned.

Asda in Hounslow was to provide a large number of bike racks to the customers. They did, behind the building.

No locking facilities? Take the bike in with you.

At our ASDA they have plenty of bikes racks (well, about 5), they also very kindly lay on a large group of neer do wells who stand right next to them. Good luck on finding your bike still there when you come back!
