If you had £400 to spend what road bike would you be looking at?
Any new bargains out there?
I generally dont buy new but wondered what second hand bikes to look out for?
What does the STW massive think?
Probably Specialized or maybe Ribble will have something.
I got a 2010 Giant Defy 2 for £440, off ebay a couple of months ago. Same spec as this years Defy 1 which goes for £925. Great entry to road riding so far.
Had a similar price point to what you have and Spesh Allez were also similar price in compact and triple varieties. Kit level for Spesh, Giant etc will be Tiagra for 2009/10 and Sora 2010/2011. Unless you can snag a Boardman Comp, which may have some 105 on it.
Decathlon should have something for that price too.
Hi LapSteel,
I have a Ribble aluminium road bike with a carbon rear triangle. Full 105 group with carbon post and Shimano 105 semi aero wheelset (tight and true with no bearing play).
Maxxis race tyres + spare set of Conti Ultra Race. Size 56 and in 'that classic Ribble blue with white decals'.
Super-quick bike that will also do 100 milers without issue.
Very good condition with minimal wear to drive train. STIs in near perfect nick.
London based, but can post.
Photos available.
Price is £335
Cheers.
Cheers Barn.... I think I will need a 54cm as I'm 5'8" with 30" leg though
The ribbles do look nice though dont they
Hi LapSteel,
Yep, 54 sounds like your size, but you've got long pins for your height. Mine's 56, you'd be welcome to throw your leg over and try if you're local.
