Soooo.... I've been using Continental Black Chili Supersonic 2.4's the last year, tubeless the last 9 months. Despite them being a great all-year round mountain tyre I need something else for the rear.

- love the volume of the 2.4's but possibly too voluminous for a Stan's 355 rim.
- like the compound
- great mud/dry/whatever performance/compromise
- great weight

however the carcass is too thin to be tubless for very long, my rear has been oozing sealant for the last few weeks/month and is even showing thread in places despite having ok knobbles left.

So I need something for the summer and I'll get a protection MK for winter use, if they do a Black Chili version.

- Riding in lakes - big hills, big descents, big smiles
- Odd bit of racing (yes, on the same bike, no, I don't swap tyres for races)
- leading up to Kielder 100

Should I give something like a Larsen TT, Small Block 8 or Race King a go on the rear or are they completely unsuited to proper mountain riding? TT's are quite cheap for the 62a, 2.35 folding version!!

Should I sucker up and get in to the habit of swapping tyres for fast and dusty conditions and real mountain/mud riding?

I'll be running Racing ralph front and back for the Keilder, but if I was to run one tyre all year round, it'd be Nobby Nic... 2.25 for both for me. Ran NN all through last year, including the selkirk Merida 100km last August and the Strathpuffer in Jan. Never let me down. They've just worn out, hence the RR purchase, and I may switch to a NN for the front after the keilder.
